Off the Mapp at Spray Point Station Our Wilderness. Your discovery
A place for all seasons.
Our cosy historic cob cottage.
Choose your adventure.

Discover a hidden conservation wilderness, a high country playground, an historic station, an exceptional retreat.

Spray Point Station is an historic high country merino station in Marlborough, New Zealand, set on the banks of the River Spray in the Waihopai Valley. Hosts Jenny and Roland Mapp invite you to step ‘Off the Mapp’ and follow in the footsteps of the old musterers from a bygone era. Stay in our lovingly restored Cob Quarters, full of mementoes from the past, or explore the station from our Kiwi bush retreat, Boundary Creek Cabin.

Hike on the Waihopai Walking Track, swim in the crystal clear Spray and Waihopai rivers, explore our conservation wilderness, help with our predator control programme, go bird watching, hunting, fishing, or horse-riding…you’ll discover peace, privacy, and rugged natural beauty all year round.

Solitude was most desperately sought and most fortunately found... [the] Cob Cottage is it. Highlights: the view from the deck, the shower, swimming in the Waihopai, falcons up the Cannister, mountain vista from up the hill, a fabulous afternoon up [Mount] Spray. We'll be back.

Here is magnitude and solitude, wilderness and wellbeing. After a day tramping in the mighty mountains what a blessing to arrive at the cottage, take a hot outdoors shower, barbecue some lamb and enjoy the overwhelming silence under a trillion stars, before a much-needed rest in luxurious beds. The many trails can easily satisfy any desire for leisurely walk or more challenging discovery expeditions along forrested streams down the canyons.
